GW's Global Impact Grows with Thirteen Fulbright U.S. Student Awardees
Thirteen George Washington University students and alumni have been awarded the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program Award for 2024-25. These awards enable recipients to teach, study or conduct research abroad, and this year marks GW’s first selection of scholars in Hungary, Lithuania and Namibia, as well as the Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship in Public Health.
The Fulbright Program, initiated by the U.S. Department of State, is one of the world's largest academic exchange programs, offering around 9,000 merit-based scholarships annually in over 160 countries. Since its inception in 1946, it has facilitated the participation of over 400,000 individuals, enriching their global perspectives and expanding their professional and personal networks.
Jacob English, director of GW’s Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research, highlighted the rigorous application process and praised the awardees for their hard work, noting that they will become future leaders in various fields and drive positive global change.

STORIES FROM OUR COMMUNITY
Student Org Giving Challenge
Student groups at GW can be powerful forces for community, creativity and change. But they need many resources. Through December 3, GW’s 2024 Student Org Giving Challenge gives donors an opportunity to help students close funding gaps on whatever they’re passionate about.
GW Inaugural Ball
The GW Inaugural Ball is a longstanding tradition celebrating the university's politically active campus in the heart of Washington, D.C. This year's event will take place on January 19 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Tickets are for sale now.
“It was an inspiring experience to not only meet Bill Clinton, but to work alongside him to give back to the community around us. I am very grateful to GW for selecting me and my teammates to be part of this incredible opportunity.“
