GW's Global Impact Grows with Thirteen Fulbright U.S. Student Awardees
Thirteen George Washington University students and alumni have been awarded the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program Award for 2024-25. These awards enable recipients to teach, study or conduct research abroad, and this year marks GW’s first selection of scholars in Hungary, Lithuania and Namibia, as well as the Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship in Public Health.
The Fulbright Program, initiated by the U.S. Department of State, is one of the world's largest academic exchange programs, offering around 9,000 merit-based scholarships annually in over 160 countries. Since its inception in 1946, it has facilitated the participation of over 400,000 individuals, enriching their global perspectives and expanding their professional and personal networks.
Jacob English, director of GW’s Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research, highlighted the rigorous application process and praised the awardees for their hard work, noting that they will become future leaders in various fields and drive positive global change.
