Our Purpose

Photo of a statue of George Washington The mission of The George Washington University Tax Department is to ensure that the University is in compliance with federal, state and local tax laws and to protect the University's tax-exempt status. The Tax Department cannot give personal income tax advice to students or employees.

Foreign National Information System

If you are a new international student and will be receiving payments (such as a scholarship, stipend or wages) from the University, you will need to schedule an appointment to complete the appropriate tax forms.

To expedite the processing of your tax information. International students may submit information to the Tax Department through the Foreign National Information System (FNIS). To request a FNIS log-in ID and password please send an email to the Tax Department. The Tax Department will contact to you to arrange an appointment once your information is processed

Appointment Hours:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9am-3pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 9am-11am and 2pm-5pm
