This Taiwan Roundtable will include a discussion on the uses of history in competing claims over the Diaoyutai Islands. The issue will be discussed in the context of Taiwanese President Ma Ying–jeou’s East China Sea Peace Initiative. GW professor Robert Sutter, Sigur Center Visiting Scholar and Professorial Lecturer Michael Yahuda and Towson University professor Steven Phillips will participate in the panel. Professor Edward McCord will moderate the panel.
