The War Memorial of Korea
The War Memorial of Korea opened to the public in Seoul on June 10, 1994.
The Memorial was built to:
1) collect, preserve, and exhibit various historical relics and records of wars fought to defend Korea from foreign invasions.
2) remind visitors of the patriotic spirit of Korean ancestors and educate them about facing and preventing future wars by providing indirect experience of previous wars through the display of war-related materials.
3) commemorate martyrs and their dedication to the nation.
The Memorial also holds research facilities for war history, cultural and artistic activities based on the theme of war and war veterans.
