Presentation Description:
Ms. Kay Goss, CEM, will discuss with us the changes she has witnessed in Emergency Management and Homeland Security through her almost 30 years in government and private sector leadership positions in Emergency Management. She will spark the forum discussion with her presentation of “some audacious predictions” about what we can expect in the next 30 years.
Brief Bio:
Ms. Goss has served as Director of Emergency Management at SRA International since 2007. Before that, she was Senior Advisor for Emergency Management, Homeland Security, and Business Continuity at EDS.
Her public career in emergency management began with 12 years as Senior Assistant to the Governor of Arkansas for Intergovernmental Relations, coordinating programs and policies for emergency management, fire service, public safety, law enforcement, transportation, cities, counties, tribes, and international outreach. Her years of experience in Arkansas were followed by almost 8 years as the presidential appointed and US Senate confirmed Associate FEMA Director in charge of National Preparedness, Training, and Exercises.
Ms. Goss has been a supporter of the GWU Crisis, Emergency and Risk Management program since its inception in 1994. Her in-depth experience and wide perspective will contribute to a lively presentation and enlightening discussion that should be thought provoking for both our students and invited guests from the emergency management professional community.
Please note:
Like all GWU/ICDRM Forums, this is expected to be a frank discussion under "not-for-attribution" rules, and therefore it is not open to the media.
