President's Welcome


On behalf of The George Washington University Student National Medical Association, I would like to welcome you to our website. Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is the nation's oldest and largest student organization focused on the needs and concerns of minority medical students. Membership includes more than 7,000 medical and pre-medical students, residents and physicians. The GWU SNMA works to address the health needs of underserved communities, increase cultural competency and social awareness in medical education and advance minority representation in medicine.
Chapter programs include:

" Children's National Medical Center Holiday Fundraiser
" Pre-medical Mentorship
" High School Book Scholarship
" Black History Month Lecture Series
" Physician  Student Networking Dinner
" Mock PBE Practical
" Pearl Panels

The GWU SNMA is also active at a regional and national level. Thanks to member enthusiasm, we had some of the highest attendance at the 2007 Region VI Conference at Howard University and were chosen as a 2008 P.R.I.D.E.
