Dr. Cline is a classical and biblical archaeologist and ancient historian whose primary fields of study are biblical archaeology, the military history of the Mediterranean world from antiquity to present, the Bronze Age Aegean, and the international connections between Greece, Egypt, and the Near East during the Late Bronze Age (1700-1100 BCE).
Research
A prolific researcher and author with eight books and more than 70 articles and book reviews to his credit, Dr. Cline is an experienced field archaeologist. He has directed, or participated in, 22 seasons of excavation and survey in Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Cyprus, Greece, Crete, and the United States, including six seasons at the site of Megiddo (biblical Armageddon) in Israel, where he is the Associate Director (USA). He is also co-director of the new series of archaeological excavations at the site of Tel Kabri, Israel.
Current Research Projects
- Associate Director (USA) of the Megiddo Expedition, Israel, with directorial, excavation, and publication responsibilities; Middle Bronze, Late Bronze and Iron Age remains; run by Tel Aviv University and The George Washington University (Israel Finkelstein, David Ussishkin and Eric H. Cline).
- Co-Director of the Tel Kabri Excavations and the Tel Kabri Regional Archaeological Survey Project, Israel, with full directorial, excavation, and publication responsibilities; run by UC Santa Cruz and The George Washington University (Assaf Yasur-Landau and Eric H. Cline).
