Welcome to the School of Media and Public Affairs. Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., we are a dynamic interdisciplinary program where media, public affairs and politics intersect. Our faculty is composed of cutting-edge scholars and award-winning journalists whose research, creative work and teaching focus on political communication, journalism in the digital age and the rapidly changing global media landscape.

We're about teaching and research. We focus on digital, print, broadcast and social media, journalism, and political communication. SMPA's institutes and centers examine the impact of global media, bring important people and events to campus, study and produce documentaries and public affairs programs, and connect with the community around us. Our objective is to understand both how we communicate and the effects of that communication.

In the classroom and beyond, our students have unparalleled opportunities to engage new ideas, deepen their intellect and learn critical skills as they build a foundation for exciting careers in a rapidly changing marketplace.
