Elliott School of
International Affairs
The Elliott School offers
a number of highly competitive awards, mostly to entering full-time Master of
Arts candidates.* Factors considered in the
fellowship selection process include academic achievement, scores on the
Graduate Record Examination, language skills, academic interests, work
experience, preparation in relevant areas, and a demonstrated ability to
excel in a rigorous graduate program.

- M.D. Blaney Fellowship for International Relations
- W.S. Blaney Fellowship for International Affairs

- Elliott School Achievement Awards
- Elliott School High Achievement Fellowships

- Elliott School Honors Fellowship
- Elliott School Merit Fellowships
- Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS)
Fellowships - graduate fellowships for intensive language study during
the either the academic year or summer. U.S. citizens or permanent residents
who are graduate students in good standing currently enrolled in a program
that combines modern foreign language training with international
studies are eligible to apply.

Fellows Program for Asian Mid-career Professionals - fellowships
awarded to mid-career professionals from developing Asian nations for
one-year of study in the Master of International Policy and Practice
(M.I.P.P.) program (separate application required) subject to
continued funding
- Institute for European, Russian, and
Eurasian Studies Fellowships
- International Science and Techonology Policy Fellowships
- Merriman Fellowship
- J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Fellowships
- Wolcott Foundation
Scholarships - must have an interest in a career in federal, state,
or local government or international business (separate application
required)
- Yacobson Fellowships
*To apply for these
awards (unless specified that a separate application is required), answer
"Yes" to question #20 on your admission application and submit a
third recommendation with your other application materials by January 15 for
the following fall semester.

Foundation Scholarships - for part-time students who plan a career

Fellowships - intended to assist students in specified programs who
are working either full- or part-time and are pursuing or wish to pursue
graduate (Master's level) study at GW to enhance their knowledge and

- Conference
Presentation Travel Grants - grants available for those students
invited to present at a national or international conference related to
their academic area or dissertation research (separate application

- Global Leadership
Program Fellowships - for international students on J-1 visas from
the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia,
Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and
U.S.S.R. successor states (separate application required - contact the

- GW Presidential
Administrative Fellowships - offers recent GW baccalaureate
graduates the opportunity to gain relevant work experience within the GW
administration while pursuing a master's degree in their chosen field.
Students must apply during their senior year at GW (separate application

- Phi Delta Gamma Scholarship
Fund - must have completed at least nine semester hours of graduate
work at GW. Not open every year (separate application required -

- Scottish Rite
Endowment Graduate Fellowships - for graduate students affiliated
with the Scottish Rite except law and M.D. students (separate

- Scottish Rite
Endowment Graduate Public Service Awards - for U.S. citizens who
plan a career in government or public service, intend to undertake
unpaid public service over the summer, and are enrolled as full-time
master's degree candidates in CSAS, ESIA, GSEHD, SBPM, or SEAS.
