In 2013, The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the United States is offering MANDARIN LANGUAGE learning opportunities to any American undergraduate and graduate students, who intend to pursue or have already embarked on a career in which an advanced level of proficiency in Mandarin is important.
TECRO is offering this award to American undergraduate and graduate students, who are enrolled as full-time students at a United States college or university, and who are interested in improving their Mandarin language proficiency through study abroad at a university in Taiwan. Ideal applicants are American citizens who neither hold a Taiwan passport nor claim Taiwanese or Chinese heritage and who meet the following category of eligibility:
Funds
The program provides recipients with a fixed monthly stipend (NT$25,000, about US$862, rate: 29) to help defray living expenses and tuition in Taiwan. Successful applicants are responsible for all other costs.
Duration
three (3), six (6), nine (9), or twelve (12) months from September 2013 to August 2014
Number of awards
a total of 120 months of study in Taiwan

Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2013. We cannot accept any applications that are postmarked later than this date.
