Symposium Asks, Are Labor Unions Still Relevant in the 21st Century?

EVENT: 
Labor, government, and academic experts consider whether labor unions are still relevant in the 21st century during The George Washington University Law School's Charles H. Goldstein Labor Law Symposium. Topics for panel discussions include "Is the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) an Outmoded Statute in the 21st Century?", "What Labor Unions Must Do to Survive in the 21st Century Economy," and "Moving to a Post-Industrial, Global Economy, and the Decline of Labor Unions."

BACKGROUND: 
The faculty of The George Washington University Law School has notable expertise in the field of labor law. Professor Charles Craver writes extensively on issues relating to labor unions and on dispute resolution. Professor Michael Selmi focuses on discrimination in the workplace and employment law. Adjunct faculty member Fred Freilicher, who is a labor and employment counsel at Hunton & Williams, brings to the classroom his experience as former chief counsel to a NLRB board member.

The symposium is sponsored by Charles H. Goldstein, J.D. '64, a senior partner in the Century City, Calif., labor and employment law firm of Goldstein & Petito.
