Gov't Contracts Update
It was a banner year for GW Law's Government Procurement Program, inside the classroom and out. Courses reached record enrollment numbers, and faculty members hosted and participated in numerous events across the nation and around the world. Among other activities, this fall Co-directors Steven L. Schooner and Christopher R. Yukins co-chaired the inaugural U.S.-European Procurement Leadership Roundtable in Düsseldorf, Germany. Other programs found Mr. Schooner, Mr. Yukins, and their fellow co-director Joshua Schwartz individually in Argentina, Belgium, China, Japan, Korea, and Italy.
The program continued to make an impact on both academia and the industry, and there is growth ahead—notably, the program will be filling a newly created associate dean position for government contracts law.

Alumni and Friends Luncheon
The Government Procurement Program celebrated more than 50 years of excellence and achievement at its annual Alumni and Friends Luncheon on Feb. 25 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Government Contracts Moot Court
A record number of students participated in the 2011 McKenna Long & Aldridge "Gilbert A. Cuneo" Government Contracts Moot Court competition. Judges for the finals were George W. Miller, LLM '68, and Victor Wolski of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and Jeri K. Somers, vice chairman of the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals.
Alumni, Faculty Connect with Leaders in Budapest

Government Procurement Program faculty members and GW representatives met on May 25 in Budapest, Hungary, with GW alumni and students, as well as Bulgarian practitioners and academics. The event built on GW's international presence and set the stage for future collaborations.
In addition to the participants pictured above, the event was attended by István Stumpf, a judge for the Constitutional Court of Hungary; Robert Gajdos, president of the Public Procurement Council; Patay Geza, president of the Hungarian Bar; and Tamás Mészáros, rector of Corvinus University of Budapest.
