The 1960s

Roger S. Hunt, MBA '68, president of Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington-Normal, Ill., and Advocate Eureka Hospital in Eureka, Ill., has announced plans to retire at the end of the year. Hunt has led the two central Illinois hospitals for the past nine years.

The 1970s

Kenneth M. Trombly, BA '70, a partner in the firm of Schultz & Trombly, PLLC, was awarded the 2010 "Trial Lawyer of the Year" award by the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., at its 2010 annual awards banquet.

Maxine Armstrong, BA '71, is the recipient of one of this year's Spirit of Greenwich awards, which recognize outstanding women in the Greenwich, Conn., community who, through their significant volunteer work and vision, devotion, and accomplishments, have enriched the lives of many. 

The 1980s

Michael Ditkoff, MBA '81, recently retired from the federal government after 36 years of service. His last assignment was senior budget analyst with the Department of Homeland Security's Citizenship and Immigration Services. His previous assignments included budget analyst with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Ditkoff now has time to devote to his passion—dancing—and has filed his recertification papers to become a dance host on cruise ships.

Andrew S. Abramson, BBA '86, has been named president of the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund of Ambler, Pa., a non-medical resource center that provides advocacy, education, information, and financial assistance for the uninsured needs of families caring for children who are terminally, critically, and chronically ill, severely disabled, or seriously injured.

Sue Keil, MBA '86, recently joined The McLean Group's D.C. office as a managing director. The McLean Group is a national investment bank and Keil focuses on buy-side and sell-side, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and equity raises for companies in all sectors generating up to $500 million in revenues.

Pasquale Rocco, BA '87, and Susan Rocco are pleased to announce the birth of their fourth child, Chiara Annata. She was born July 9, 2010, weighing 9 pounds, 6 ounces, and measuring 22 inches. Her brothers and sister are thrilled to have her home.

The 1990s

Andrew Dixon, BA '92, recently accepted a position as an administrative law judge with the Social Security Administration in Tallahassee, Fla. A former prosecutor in the Ft. Lauderdale area, Dixon spent the previous five years with the Department of Health and Human Services authoring Medicare appeal hearings as an attorney-advisor. Dixon currently serves on the regional programs committee of the GW Alumni Association.

Deanna (Glickman) Ferrante, BA '92, is the director of marketing and communications at Peddie School in Hightstown, N.J. She lives in Cranbury, N.J., with her husband, Mike, daughter Emilia, 9, and son Andrew, 5.

Brian Harris, BA '92, recently accepted a position as organizational development advisor at the Maseru, Lesotho chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa. Harris recently was employed at Reuters as a Central America commodities correspondent. He will be working on a mission to ensure media freedom and improve the quality of journalism during his two-year placement.

Sapna (Krishnasetty) Welsh, BBA '92, and Robert (Bob) Welsh, BA '92, live in Bonn, Germany, with their three children. Sapna is taking a sabbatical from her consulting practice (Leverage HR) to work on a book while Bob is working as head of learning and development for Deutsche Post DHL.

Jonathan Vivar, BBA '93, recently accepted a position as an account general manager at Hewlett-Packard in Philadelphia where he leads a team responsible for HP's portfolio of products and solutions for state and local government and the education market in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Max Klau, BA '94, is the director of leadership development at City Year. He recently contributed an article to the Harvard Business Review website titled "Twenty-First-Century Leadership: It's All About Values," which highlights the importance of service as an essential component of leadership. The article is part of an online discussion that led-up to a Harvard Business School conference, "Imagining the Future of Leadership."  The conference brought together top scholars from the field of leadership studies for two days of dialogue in June. 

Larry Lebofsky, BA '94, has been promoted to an equity partner at TopGrading Solutions. Lebofsky joined the firm as an account executive in 2002 and became vice president of the payment systems division in 2008.

Jared Skok, BA '95, was a recipient of the Jacksonville (Fla.) Business Journal's "40 Under 40" award. The award is presented each year to the 40 "brightest, most-promising professionals" under 40 in northeast Florida.

Kevin W. Donovan, MHSA '97, recently accepted the position of chief executive officer at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, Vt. Donovan was previously employed at Elliot Health System in Manchester, N.H.,
as senior vice president for clinical operations.

Jeremy Rohen, BBA '97, MS '99, received the John W. Nichols Bridge Builder Award from Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity. The award honors local volunteers whose unselfish service as house corporation personnel provides not only safe housing for students, but a valuable link between generations. Rohen has been a member and president of the Gamma Eta House Corporation since his graduation from GW in 1997.

Eric Young, MA '97, is associate director of MBA Career Management at Georgetown University, where he advises MBA students on career topics and partners with employers who hire business students. Young joined Georgetown after a 20-year career at Accenture where he held leadership positions across the United States, India, and Canada.

The 2000s

David Holt, BA '01, was elected to the Oklahoma state Senate in July and will be sworn-in Nov. 17.

Richard Pineda, MBA '01, has been appointed chief operations leader of Dell Services Federal Government Division, based in Fairfax, Va. Pineda, most recently general manager of the company's Department of Defense Division, will be responsible for oversight of the company's business operations and service delivery to its federal customers.

Sandra Sessoms-Penny, Cert. '01, PhD '07, recently launched a new business, Inevitable Growth Life Coaching and Consulting, in Yorktown, Va., and is serving as its president. Sessoms-Penny recently was employed at Isle of Wight County Schools, in Virginia, as a school administrator.

Paul K. Graham, BA '02, became a certified genealogist in January 2009, earned a master of heritage preservation degree from Georgia State University in May 2010, and had an article published in the June 2010 issue of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly. He lives in Atlanta and works as an independent historical and genealogical researcher.

Sonbol Shahid-Salles, MPH '03, graduated in May 2010 from Pikeville College's School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kentucky, as a doctor of osteopathic medicine. She married one of her classmates, Gregory Everett Harris, in July 2008. She began her emergency medicine residency training at Genesys Regional Medical Center, in Michigan, on July 1, 2010.

Joseph Gidjunis, BA '04, is a photojournalist and owner of JPG Photography in Philadelphia. This year, he was honored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association as one of the top 100 wedding photojournalists worldwide.

L. Trenton Marsh, MA '04, was selected as the keynote speaker for new student orientation at the University of the Virgin Islands' St. Croix and St. Thomas campuses in August. The university purchased his book, From 1.0 to 4.0: Ten Strategies for Academic and Collegiate Success, for the incoming freshman class.

Drew Sindlinger, BA '05, celebrated his tenth year of living, studying, and working in D.C. this summer with fellow Colonials, including Justin Allen, BA '05. Friends planned to gather on the Potomac for kayaking and barbecuing.

Eddy Copot, BA '06, and Holly Jarecki were married on June 26, 2010, in Elmhurst, Ill.  Jarecki is a graduate of Elmhurst College and will be teaching elementary education this fall. Copot is currently working in local government and is attending The John Marshall Law School this fall.

Dominick Kennerson, MS '06, has been awarded a 2010-2011 Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship. The fellowship program is a distinguished transatlantic initiative that selects 20 accomplished young Americans each year for high-level professional development in Germany. Over the course of the nine-month program, fellows work at leading institutions, receive intensive language training, and actively participate in professional seminars throughout Europe with key decision makers from the public and private sectors.

Mark Pepple, BA '06, received a law degree from the University of Washington School of Law on June 13, 2010.

Alison Devenny, BA '07, an associate at GFT Technologies in New York City, was recently elected to the junior board of the National Women's History Museum. The museum researches, collects, and exhibits the contributions of women to the social, cultural, economic, and political life of our nation in a context of world history.

Ashley (Quinn) DiBitetto, BA '07, and Christopher S. DiBitetto, BA '08, are happy to announce their marriage, which took place in an intimate ceremony on the evening of Aug. 15, 2010, alongside their closest friends and family at The Inn at Perry Cabin, in St. Michaels, Md. They are living in Arlington, Va.

Mohamad Sindi, MS '09, developed the "Top500 HPL Calculator," which is a tool to estimate the performance and rankings of the world's top supercomputers. Sindi is working with the EXPEC Computer Center, Saudi Aramco's upstream datacenter, as an HPC specialist. Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia and the largest oil company in the world, has been using Sindi's tool in benchmarking and ranking some of their top supercomputers.
