First Colonials Weekend a Success
More than 6,000 alumni, family, and friends visited GWs Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses during the first annual Colonials Weekend. Held Oct. 11-13, 2002, Colonials Weekend combined the former Alumni Weekend, Family Weekend, law and medical school alumni weekends, and the Graduate School of Education and Human Development alumni weekend events into one celebration for the entire GW community.
This first year was a huge success. Attendees enjoyed more than 100 activities, such as a family barbeque, a casino night, and An Evening with Jay Leno at Lisner Auditorium. Evidence of the fun had by Colonials of all ages can be seen in the photos below.
Nearly 900 people attended the Colonials Weekend Barbeque on the University Yard on Saturday. Lunch and live music for all, plus clowns, face painting, balloons, and caricature artists for the kids made the event a great family affair.
