Global finance is an area where the Institute is highly qualified and benefits from its almost unique location. Research strength is revealed in the participating faculty’s publications in top field journals including numerous books and editorial board memberships. Thanks to its location in downtown Washington D.C. GEFRI enjoys major advantages from a financial market regulation, policy, and multilateral finance perspective. These advantages have few parallels in the twin entrepreneurial revolutions of communications and information on one hand and bio/medical technology on the other.

Washington is the global center of multi-lateral financing organizations including the IMF, World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank (as well as the center for U.S. Government supported international financial activity). It is also the center for U.S. financial institution and financial market policy and regulation.
