June 2008 Kudos! Recognition of the awards, honors, and recent publications of the GW faculty and staff Acknowledgments John Banzhaf III, professor of law, was quoted in a variety of media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times and ABC News Tonight. Steven Knapp, president, has been named to the boards of the National Symphony Orchestra and Greater Washington Urban League. A Legal Miscellanea, GW’s Jacob Burns Law Library’s newsletter, has been awarded the the American Association of Law Libraries’ 2008 Excellence in Marketing Award in the category of best newsletter. Cheryl L. Vann, adjunct associate professor of honors, has been selected to attend "Holy Land and Holy City in Classical Judaism, Christianity, and Islam," a five-week summer institute supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Publications Charles T. Stewart Jr., emeritus professor of economics, published The Decline of Learning in America and "Interaction Between Invention and Public Policy" in Public Policy Issues Research Trends. Appointments John M. Whealan, deputy general counsel
for intellectual property law at the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office, has been named the first
associate dean to head the Law School’s
