Business Professor to Head the Fed

Handorf Re-Appointed as Director of the Baltimore Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond


The Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System has re-appointed William C. Handorf to a three-year term on the board of directors with the Baltimore Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Handorf’s first term, announced April 19, 2001, was for an unexpired portion of a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2003. Handorf will now serve through Dec. 31, 2006.

Handorf, a professor of finance, joined GW’s School of Business and Public Management in 1975. He is widely known in financial and economic circles, and has published more than 400 articles and papers addressing such issues as strategic planning, interest rate risk management, hedging, interest rate futures, and capital and business planning, as well as related finance, banking and real estate topics.

For 10 years, from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, Handorf wrote “The Corporate Finance Letter,” formerly published by the America’s Community Bankers Association. He also has written a monthly economic newsletter for international firms in Japan. Currently, he prepares Global Indicators: US Financial Markets, a monthly newsletter that synthesizes US financial highlights with supporting documentation about emerging trends.
