Background

Matthew R. Manfra is Interim Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, charged with overseeing the university’s comprehensive philanthropic campaign.

Manfra came to GW in 2015 as associate vice president for alumni relations in the midst of the Making History campaign, helping the university secure $1 billion to support students, enhance academics and break new ground. As AVP, he lead the strategic direction and oversight of all functions within the Office of Alumni Relations and served as a member of the Development and Alumni Relations leadership team.

Manfra joined GW from Syracuse University, where he served as the first assistant vice president for alumni engagement, managing annual giving and alumni relations. Prior to that, he served as assistant vice president for alumni relations at the University of Northern Colorado, where his focus on marketing and outreach led an alumni relations transformation, and as director of regional clubs and director of outreach programs at Rutgers University. He began his career in higher education in 1999 at his alma mater, The College of New Jersey, where he held roles in admissions, human resources and as the alumni affairs director.
