GW is creative, evolving, inspiring, determined, fearless, passionate, groundbreaking, cutting-edge, imaginative, global, driven, talented, connected, caring, engaged

No matter what subjects we pursue, we’ve all come here to

change the course of history.

MAKE AN IMPACT

Brianna Cathey and Sofian Obaid smiling

Sofian Obaid and Brianna Cathey, students in the School of Engineering & Applied Science, recently published a paper on their 3D printed system for optical mapping, the leading tool used to study the heart’s electrical activity. Their designs will help save money and increase flexibility in experimental protocol. Their project started on a smaller scale but the department chair asked them to design a larger system that would reduce barriers and they gladly accepted the challenge. At GW, you don’t have to wait until grad school to participate in research that can change the world. Our undergraduates take advantage of opportunities everyday, just as Brianna and Sofian demonstrated through their ambition and dedication.
