The Graduate School Office of The Columbian School of Arts and Sciences is located in the Academic Center (Phillips 107). Elaine Valmonte is the staff person in the Graduate School who helps administer matters such as graduate admissions, and submission of forms leading toward completion of the degree and graduation for Women’s Studies MA students. Her telephone number is 202-994-8572. Copies of the GW Graduate Student Handbook and Bulletin are available in Phillips 107. 

The Registrar's Office is on the first floor of Rice Hall. This office has forms for deferring college loans and for registering for consortium courses. It has GW course schedules and schedules for universities in the consortium. After you register by telephone, this office sends you the bill, requesting payment in about 10 days. 

The Access Services Office, where ID cards are obtained, is located in Room 501 of the Marvin Center at 800 21st Street. Student ID cards are necessary in order to check books out of Gelman Library and also to enter certain buildings or attend certain events on campus. Regular Access Services office hours throughout the academic year are Monday through Thursday 9 am to 5 pm.

Information Systems and Services (Phillips B-106), is the place for obtaining Online Computer Accounts. Once you have your Student ID, you can receive an online account with which you can access e-mail, the Internet, the library catalogs, and many other useful academic and social online tools. You can create your GWIS2 account online at the IT Services Web site. CIRC can also be reached by calling 202-994-6139, but it is more efficient to go to their Web site or see them in person. 

The office of Student Financial Assistance is on the third floor of Rice Hall (Room 310). 

The Smith Center for Athletics is located across the street from Funger Hall on the corner of 22nd and G Streets. It has a swimming pool, basketball courts, and other amenities. It offers aerobics classes and other activities. 

The GW Bookstore is located on the ground floor of the Marvin Center at 21st and H Streets. Many Women's Studies faculty order their course books in the GW Bookstore. Others choose to order their books from Lammas, Washington's feminist bookstore. It is located at 1426 21st St, NW. From GW, Lammas is approximately a one-mile walk up 21st Street, or via the metro on the red line to Dupont Circle (Q Street exit). Lammas is a good source of information about women's issues, upcoming events, and job and apartment referrals (ask to see the notebooks). In addition to books, the store sells recordings by women, t-shirts with sassy slogans, and feminist jewelry.
