Committee
Comprised of national leaders in long term care,
the Wertlieb Advisory Committee provides expertise
to the Institute. Advisory Committee members also
enhance the GW academic program by identifying emerging
issues in long term care, presenting guest lectures,
facilitating experiential learning opportunities,
and offering strategic input.
Himmelfarb
Library
The newest addition to the Institute is the Wertlieb
Media Resource Center. This multi-media resource
center is equipped with computer workstations with
access to the Internet. It also houses more than
400 periodicals, journals, newsletters, books, videotapes,
audio tapes, and CD ROMs to keep users up-to-date
on the latest issues and developments in the long
term care field.
Visiting
Lecturers
Visiting lectures offer professionals working in
the long term care field the opportunity to contribute
their knowledge of cutting-edge issues to our students.
These experts present lectures on a variety of long
term care topics, such as developments in Medicare
and Medicaid, national issues affecting assisted
living, best practices in long term care administration,
managed care implications on service provision,
financing and operational trends for long term care,
and end-of-life care.
Residencies
The School of Public Health and Health Services
and the Wertlieb Institute work with the long term
care industry to offer administrative residencies
and internships to promising graduate students in
order to incorporate work experience into the curriculum.
Full-time residencies and Internships are available
to students enrolled in the program. GW offers students
the opportunity to apply the concepts taught in
the classroom to a workplace setting for a valuable
learning experience.

policy, finance, and operational issues.
