       I study at the Financial Economic Institute of Yakutsk State University. I am the
       third year student. I study economics and foreign languages like English and French.
        I like my studying very much. We have 5 or 6 classes every day.

III. Hobbies

       First of all, I like cooking. I like to cook different salads. My favorite meal is a
       green salad. I also like cooking the Yakut traditional dishes. They are usually made
       of diary products or there are fish and meat dishes. Yakut food is very natural and
       nutritious. It might be too calorific for people who live in the south. But one will not
       survive in Yakutia if he (she) is hungry. Our winter is rather a rigorous lady .

       Nevertheless, Yakut people are very kind and cheerful. You would never regret it if
       you visit our hospitable country. Our nature is so beautiful, that no one can describe
       it. You should see it by yourself.

Tatyana Nikitina (Tanya)

I. Personal Background.

       My name is Tatyana Nikitina. You can call me Tanya (short for Tatyana).
       I am 19 years old now. I live in Yakutsk. Yakutsk is the capital of the Republic of
       Sakha (Yakutia). It is the coldest region in Russia where the coldest temperature in
       the Northern Hemisphere was registered: -71 C.

       My family consists of 4 people. My mother is a child neurologist. My father is a
       Vice-Dean at the Department of Geology at Yakutsk State University. I have an
       older brother who also works at the university and has small business.

II. Academic Background.

I am a third year student now. My major is World Economy. I think this specialty
can give me a wide area for activity.

       Moreover, I am very interested in different cultures. So, I can learn about many countries here.
       I hope my future job will give me an opportunity to communicate with many people from
       all over the world.

III. My Hobbies

       Travelling is the most interesting thing for me. I have been to Seoul, South Korea
       and to the USA. In America I lived in Davis, California for 6 months. I have
       also visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, and, of course,
       San-Francisco and Sacramento. I will always remember these unforgettable and
       amazing moments in my life.

Another thing I like to do is design clothes. Sometimes I sew clothes for myself.

I like ice-skating, dancing, listening to different kinds of music, and spending my free
time with friends.

And I love to drive a car!

I. Personal Background

       My name is Innokenty Skriabin. I am 19. My native village is Nemegunsk. It
       is situated in the north-east of Russia. It is not far from Yakutsk. Yakutsk is the
       capital of the Sakha Republic.But now I live in Yakutsk.

II. Academic Background

After finishing school I entered the Financial Economic Institute, the World
Economy department have been studying there for 3 years.

III. My hobbies

       Generally speaking, I do not have so many activities except some kind of sports in
       which I keen like kick-boxing, jumping with a parachute, bodybuilding and so on.

       Also I am fond of driving a car.

      I like to be in the country with my family and my friends very much.

Sergey R.Alexandrov

I. Personal Background

Born in Yakutia, educated at school and at present studing at Yakutsk State
University, Financial Economic Institute, World Economy department.

       I live in the capital of the Republic Sakha - in Yakutsk. That is a very small town with the
       population of some two hundred thousand people, but at the same time it is the
       largest town in our Republic with the territory of more than three million square km.

       All my relatives and the major part of my friends also live here, including my
       Parents and younger brother.

II. Academic Background/Interests

       As you have understood - I'm a student of the local university, and I spent nearly all
       the time there.

       The other thing is that I am a member of a students' club, named
       "XXI Vek"(Vek means Century). We are doing much to make our study more
       complete, effective and interesting. Such an activity includes arranging different
       discussions, conferences, round tables and parties.

III. Hobbies

       Being a "playing" supporter of sport I go info it. Speaking particularly, I prefer
       roller-blading for its speed and freedom of movements. Muay Thai for its strength
       and philosophy.

       My other hobby is collecting coins.

Anna Okrugina

I. Personal Background

       My name is Anna Okrugina but you may call me just Ann like everybody does. I
       live in Yakutsk. It is the capital of Republic Sakha (Yakutia) in Russia. I was born
       and lived in Yakutsk, not so long cause I'm just 19.

       I live with my parents but dream of independence and having my own place. I am
       fond of my younger brother whose name is Yuri. He is crazy about computers. He
       is only 16 but so smart and intelligent. So it happened that we became the best
       friends.

II. Academic Interests

       I am studying at the Institute of Finance and Economy of Yakutsk State University.
       I am the third year student of the World Economy Department. I like my studies
       and plan of being engaged into foreign trade activities. Especially I always dream to
       visit different countries.

III. My Hobbies

In my free time I like to surf the Internet to find some interesting and useful
information or just to chat with different people.

My another hobby is knitting. It is pleasant to sit in front of the TV- set in the
evenings and take spokes in hands. It helps me to relax after a long and hard day.

       Like many people I am fond of movies. Usually I go to the movies with my friend.
       My favorite one is "Trainspotting" with Ewan McGregore. Also I like reading
       classics and listen to alternative music.

I. Personal Background.

My name is Vera Ptitsina. I am 19. My native town is Yakutsk. It is situated in the
north-east part of Russia. Yakutsk is the capital of the Republic Sakha (Yakutia).

       My family is neither small nor big. I think my parents are the best parents in the
       world. I have a twin-sister. She is ten minutes older than me. We understand each
       other from a half of the word. We have a younger sister as well.

II. Academic Background.

       I am a student of the Finance and Economy Institute. So I am a future economist. I
       like to study at the Institute. We have a lot of classes (a class is a 1.5 hours lesson)
       of English. There are some students clubs in the Institute. For example, the club of
       sociologists (students from the department of Economy & Sociology of Labor)
       ®Alter Ago¯. And I am a member of the club ®XXI Century¯.

III. My Hobbies.

       I like reading very much. I prefer fantastic & detective stories, articles about
       different countries & cities. But my favorite writer is Anton P. Chekhov. His short
       stories are the best of all.

       Also I like cooking & treating to my friends.

In the future I hope to travel a lot. My dream is to visit Venice & the carnival show in Rio
de Janeiro.

I. Personal Background

       My name is Blummer Marie. You can call me Masha. I m 19. I m from Yakutsk, it
       is the capital of Yakutia. You can see many interesting and picturesque places in my
       town.

I have a brother, he is 16. He is a schoolboy. He is very kind. My mother is
a teacher of chemistry. My father is a civil engineer.

II. Academic Interests.

       I study at Financial Economic Institute. I learn the English and German languages. I
       want to know foreign languages because I am always interested in foreign
       countries, their political structure and people.

III. Hobbies.

       I pat difficult problems. But I like to solve this trouble, thet`s I am interested in such
       sport as tourism. As there are few mountains in my town, I like travelling. For the
       most part of my time I spend journeying with my friends. We win peaks and come
       to the town mountainous river by canoes. In the evenings we intend to the bonfire
       with a cup of coffee NESCAFE Classic. Then we sing our songs.

I have a dream to learn to play guitar.

       My name is Lyuba. I m 19 years old. Besides me, there are 5 members in my family.

       My mother is a teacher of the Russian Language for schoolchildren. My father is the head
       of the Viluy Hydro-Electric Power Station.

       My elder sister Masha is a student of the Foreign Languages School of Yakutsk
       State University. Masha wants to become an interpreter in French. Nadya is my
       second sister. She is studying at the Psychology Department. My youngest sister Vera is
       a schoolgirl.

       I m the third year student of the Finance Economic Institute. My major is the World
       Economy. I d like to work for the international currency credit relations company. I
       will graduate from the institute in 2002. I hope to become a highly qualified
       specialist.

III. My hobbies

       In summer I got the driver license and I drive my father's car. In my free time I
       enjoy reading, going in for sports. My favorite type of books is love stories. My
       favorite sports are swimming and aerobics. I also like to go dancing, to watch
       movies or to attend some parties with my friends. Recently I became a member of the
       club 21 century . I take different courses concerning my specialization.

       in Yakutsk with my elder brother whose name is Anatoly. He is a military man. I
       have a twinbrother. His name is Yuriy. He studies at the Tomsk Univtrsity. My
       parents live in Jigansk. It s a village not far from Yakutsk. My father s name is
       Yuriy. He is the head of Gigansk administration. My mother s name is Leedia. She
       works for the insurance company. I love all of them very much.

II. Academic Background

       Three years ago I finished the Math & Physics school in Novosibirsk (the city in
       Russia). Now I study at the Financial Economic Institute of Yakusk State University.
       My major is the World Economy. My favorite subject is Macroeconomics. I learn English
       and Japanese.

III. Hobbies

       My hobby is reading books. This helps me to solve many problems in life. I like to
       travel. I was in Alaska and Egypt. I hope to tour the whole world. I like to dance,
       to listen to music, to draw & to cook delicious Russian food.

       My name is Alexei Spiridonovi, but you can call me Alex. Now I live in Yakutsk. It
       is the capital of Sakha Republic. Sakha Republic is situated in Siberia in Russia. It
       is the coldest region in the world, where human beings live.

       My family consists of 6 people. My mother is a teacher, my father is an engineer.
       They live in Suntar. It is my native place. I have an elder brother, who is also a
       student, a younger brother and a sister. They are schoolchildren.

II. Education

I study at the Economic Institute and I am the third year student. I hope to be
engaged into the world trade business in future.

III. My interests

I like reading, going in for sports and listening to music.

I am fond of driving bike, but I am not a good biker.

My dream is to visit all countries in the world.

Kalisa

I. Personal Background

       My name is Kalisa. I am 19 years old. I live in Yakutsk which is the capital of the
       Sakha Republic. Our republic is located in the North-East part of Russia. The
       climate here is sharply continental. In the winter the weather is very cold, -40-50
       degrees below zero Celcius.

       My family is not big. I have a mother, a sister, and a brother. My mother is a
       pensioner. My sister is an accountant. She has her own family: a husband and a
       daughter. My brother is a surgeon.

My favorite season is summer, because it is very short here. In the summer I go to my village
where I used to live before. There I have a vacation.

II. Academic Background

       I study at the Financial Economic Institute. I entered the Institute after finishing
       school. I have been studying English for three years. We have different subjects.
       We have 5 or 6 classes a day. There are Economics, Business English, World
       Marketing, Financial and so on in our schedule. There are 5 levels in our Institute. I
       am studying at the 3rd level (course).

III. Hobbies

       If I have free time, I like to listen to the radio RIM . I prefer pop and classical
       music. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I play piano. My favorite singers are
       Madonna, Lisa Stansfield , Whitney Houston.

I like to spend my free time with my friends.

I am fond of cooking cakes.

Also I like to play volleyball.
