Students Placing Phone Calls

Basic Dialing Information

  • The area code for the University is (202).
  • Wired Residence Hall rooms use the "242" exchange.
  • Main Campus University Departments use the "994" exchange.
  • Some University Departments use the "726" exchange
Calls placed to and from the following locations may be dialed using the last five digits of the telephone number:
  • Residence Halls
  • Foggy Bottom Campus
  • Mount Vernon Campus
  • Virginia (Loudoun County) Campus

PAETEC Services

The George Washington University utilizes PAETEC Services to make it easy for students to place calls that have a charge associated with them. By using your PAETEC Personal Billing Number (PBN) to make off campus calls, you receive the following benefits:

  • Electronic billing for GW Students
  • In-room direct dial and long-distance service
  • A PAETEC Personal Billing Number
  • A PAETEC Customer Service Call Center which gives access to account information such as balances, payments, dialing instructions, account status, and current rate plans.

Access to the PAETEC Services which allows easy access to your accounts statements on line.

NOTE: If you wish to use a cordless telephone, it must be a 900MHz telephone to work properly in the Residence Halls.
