Here are some additional few tips for computer security
Run Ad-Aware & Spybot
Ad-Aware and Spybot remove spyware. Spyware is software that runs on
your computer without your knowledge. It collects information about your
surfing habits which may be later sold to advertising companies or infuses your computer with annoying pop-up ads.
As spyware builds up, it will increasingly slow down your machine. Fortunately there are companies that offer
free software to find and remove these malicious programs.
You may acquire a free version of Ad-Aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/. Professional and Plus versions are also available at a cost.
Spybot is free and available at http://www.safer-networking.org/.

Email Attachments, Online Files & Hoaxes
- Treat unsolicited attachments with suspicion. Best to delete them, then to infect your computer and potentially several others.
- Do not open attachments that end with .pif, .exe, .lnk, .vbs, .scr (to name a few) or has
double extensions like .mpg.pif or .jpg.exe. Normally, you should never have to receive
such files.
- Exercise caution when opening or downloading files from the internet.
- Do not believe outlandish claims spammers make about viruses that will delete your entire hard drive or steal your data. Or
strange messages asking you to delete certain files. Always
check online for hoaxes (http://snopes.com/ is a good site) or enter
key words from the message in a search engine or ask your local computer person for support.
Guest Accounts on Your Computer
- On Windows, disable the guest account if you don't need it
- If you require a guest account, make sure it has a password
- Never create user accounts on your computer without a password
- Do not grant administrative privilege to accounts that won't need them
