If you clock in/out by telephone –

• You will be required to use the eight digits following the “G” of your GWid instead of social security number. (Do not include the G.) This change is part of the University’s continuing effort to protect your personal information.  If you need to retrieve your GWid, visit http://gwid.gwu.edu or contact your supervisor.

If you clock in/out by PC –

• New URL – http://timekeeper.gwu.edu, please remember to change your favorites
• You will continue to use your current User ID and password to clock in/out.
• A new JAVA plug-in is required.  The change will happen automatically for managed desktops, otherwise please visit http://helpdesk.gwu.edu/kronos and follow the prompts to install the new JAVA plug-in on your computer. Questions regarding the plug-in should be directed to the Help Desk at 202-994-5530.

Time Reporting System Changes are coming Monday, August 18th.

The software upgrade will provide new features for Timekeepers such as:

• Fresh new layout, which maximizes workspace and are user friendly
• Genie export to Excel or CSV
• Advanced Timecard audit Trail
• Free form notes
• Group removal process

What to except on Monday, August 18th:
           

• All employees will now use the eight digits following the “G” of your GWid* number when clocking in by phone
• When clocking in by PC there is a new URL: http://timekeeper.gwu.edu
• New JAVA plug-in required for all PC users

Kronos6 specifically requires java 5.0 for browser plugin.  You may have to uninstall the version of java currently installed on your PC and install version 5.0 (update 16) in order to access Kronos through the web interface (IE).   See instructions below for guide on how to install the plugin.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION

1. The Time Reporting System upgrade was successfully completed over the weekend. Employees have been able to clock in/out since Sunday morning, 8/18/2008.

2. We are aware that some users may experience a problem with the Java Plug-In loading properly on their desktop as they attempt to log in for the first time. If you experience this issue, please contact the ISS Helpdesk and a ticket will be opened to assist you with this problem.

3. If you haven’t tried to log in to the Time Reporting System (Kronos), we recommend you do so sometime today or tomorrow, 8/18 through 8/19/2008. This will allow you time to resolve potential problems before payroll needs to be approved next Monday, 8/25/2008.

Did the phone number for clocking in change?

No.  The number is still (202) 994-2274. 

Did the employee number change when using the phone to clock in/out?

Yes the employee number is now the eight digits following the 'G' of your GWid number instead of your SSN.

When using the phone to clock in/out did any of the clock codes change?

The clock codes did not change.  For clocking in to a second job you still use clock code 5, the department number, and the 8 digit position number.

Did the URL change for clocking in and out by computer? 

Yes.  The new URL is:  http://timekeeper.gwu.edu

Did my user name and password for logging on to TRS change?

No.  Use the same log on ID and password you were using.

I am using the new URL but when I try to long on nothing happens.

Check to make sure you have the correct JAVA plug-in.

I'm receiving the following error: Application can't get data from server.

Try closing all of your open browser instances then reopen to log back into Kronos. If this does not resolve your issue, please contact the Help Desk.
