Taiwan Democracy and Security Seminar Series

The Taiwan Democracy and Security Seminar Series provides an opportunity for the open and frank presentation and discussion of issues related to the development of Taiwan's democratic society.

The Seminar Series is an activity of the Taiwan Forum, a community of scholars and experts from Taiwan and the United States dedicated to advancing better understanding between the two countries. The Series is organized under the Taiwan Education and Research Forum with the support of the Sigur Center for Asian Studies at The George Washington University.

The Taiwan Democracy and Security Seminar Series invites noted experts on Taiwan to speak on contemporary issues of importance on Taiwan's democratic development, with a broad focus on understanding the impact and relationship of security issues and changes in the international political and economic environment on that development.

While some of these seminars are open to the public, some are closed to the members of the Taiwan Forum and held on an off-the-record basis to promote frank discussions and exchanges of opinion. Inquiries about membership in the Taiwan Forum or about this Seminar Series should be addressed to Edward McCord at: mccord@gwu.edu
