A full professor in the Department of Teacher Preparation and Special Education, Dr Carol Kochhar has been with GW for 15 years and has developed doctoral, educational specialist and masters programs in special education. Her research interests include school-to-careers transition and policy, inclusive educational practices, leadership development, evaluation and systemic change in special education.

 

Dr. Janis Ruoff has been adjunct faculty with GWU for six years, and is now Director of the GSEHD Center for Education and Human Services in Acquired Brain Injury. This center was chartered in June, 2001. She has over 25 years experience in speech-language pathology, special education, program management, and systems-change. Her research interests include impact of brain injury on individuals and families, leadership in education and human services, policy related to disability, and cognition and learning.

 

Team Goal: Dr. Kochhar's and Dr. Ruoff's project will be a collaboration with the Virginia State Department of Education and Radford University to establish and begin to pilot a distance education component of the Brain Injury Masters Program (funded by the U.S. Department of Education).
