Center for Innovation in Public Service

Who We Are

The Center for Innovation in Public Service (CIPS) is a collaborative research organization at The George Washington University, located within the School of Public Policy and Public Administration. Our mission is to provide a forum for dialogue among government, private sector, nonprofit and academic practitioners and experts interested in improving the leadership and management of public sector organizations. To accomplish our mission, we identify pressing, current challenges facing practitioners and conduct research focused on addressing those challenges. We mine scholarly, business and government literature and consult thought leaders in our development of analytical tools and pragmatic strategies to focus and strengthen public management.

The Center is unique in the public management sector. Founded with and initially sponsored by BearingPoint, CIPS offers the analytical rigor of the academic community and the private sector. CIPS research products integrate public and private sector insight as our research teams collaborate in examining and synthesizing diverse management perspectives.
