About CDS: The Director

Paul BinkleyPaul Binkley is the Director of Career Development Services at The George Washington University’s (GWU) Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration (TSPPPA). As Director, he manages the career development program for the over 350 Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Administration, and Public Policy and Administration doctoral students, as well as for the almost 3000 graduate alumni.

Paul’s tenure at GWU began in 1999 at the Elliott School of International Affairs, first as the Associate Direct of Graduate Admissions (2 years) and as the Associate Director of Graduate Student Career Development (5 years). He launched TSPPPA Career Development Services in March 2006.

Prior to his time at GWU, Paul served as the Director of Communications at the National Council for International Visitors, the private sector partner with the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Program. He also spent two years in the Residential Life system at the University of Kentucky managing a staff of 20 and responsible for over 1500 students.

Paul received his M.A. in Foreign Policy and Diplomacy in 1996 from the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce. He completed his Certification as a Global Career Direction Facilitator (GCDF) in 2003, and recently started in the Higher Education and Administration doctoral program at GWU.

Paul is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), National Career Development Association (NCDA), NetImpact, and the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO). He lives in Alexandria, VA, with his wife Laura, and is originally from the "land that time forgot and decades can't improve": Lake Wobegon, MN.
