Record : (5-3)
Wins : Hopkins B, Harvard B, Williams, NYU B, Cornell A
Losses : Penn, Maryland A and C
Playoffs : None (5th of 9 teams in bracket ; 9th of 18 overall.)
Champion : University of Maryland - College Park (A)
Not bad for one veteran (Tim) , two rookies (Dan and Jon), and one player (Rick) playing for the first time in two years. Our two losses to Maryland were on packets written by other Maryland teams. We went all that way to play only eight games, but the trip was fun. Rick made the case for the ultimate Philly cheesesteak actually coming from the 'burbs at the Dairy Cottage, while we spent Friday night at Jon's parents' house in Jersey.
Record : (11-2)
Wins : Hopkins B, Bowling Green B, Dartmouth A and C, BU B,
Harvard V and VI, Amherst, Yale B, Swarthmore A, Williams
Losses : Harvard II and III
Playoffs : Lost to Cornell in quarterfinals. (Finished 7th out
of 28 teams.)
Champion : Swarthmore College (A)
A good performance all day marred by an choke-job in the playoffs.
The finals were between the last two teams into the playoffs ; go figure.
The team turned it into a full weekend taking in various New England sights,
staying over the residences of both Tim and Edmund.
Record : (5-2)
Wins : Georgetown, Delaware, Virginia, UMBC I, Swarthmore
Losses : UMBC II, Maryland - College Park
Playoffs : Lost to Maryland-College Park in finals (2nd of 8
teams.)
Champion : University of Maryland - College Park (A)
A heartbreaker of a loss in the finals in an otherwise successful
day, two evil trash packs (the "good ol' boy pack" and the "computer geek
pack") notwithstanding. GW once again proves it's a trash power, even without
the contingent that went to MIT.

Better than usual for a GW team at a Terrapin. We finished respectably considering the opposition ; three of our five losses came to top ten nationally-ranked teams. Unusually for ACF, we topped 100 in every game save one. Rick played Friday night only.
Record : 6-2 in first phase, 0-3 in playoffs - total(6-5)
Playoffs :
Team B ("M.A.S.K.") : Tim Young, Chris Barylick, Edmund Schluessel, Andrew Wiseman
Record : 5-3 in first phase, 1-2 in second phase - total (6-5)

We're not sure ; we think Virginia ended up winning.
They used some weird point-scoring system based on the CBA, but
it's no matter. Rambo left in frustration after lunch. The A team finished
third in the bracket but got wasted in the playoffs ; the B team finished
fifth and lost two of three games in the playoff rounds, both by five points.
Individual stats weren't kept well, apparently. Most of us managed to have
fun nonetheless. Most of us seemed to think there was too much sports,
although that may because none of us are sports experts and most of the
teams that did better than expected were sports-oriented.
Nov. 13-14, 1998 : NAQT
Conference Championship Tournament(Mid-Atlantic - at George
Washington University)
Format : NAQT ; 9 minute timed halves.
Team : N/AChampion : Maryland - College Park A (Div.
I), Princeton (Div. II)
GW hosted the NAQT CCT, attended by 26 teams total - 19 Division
I, 7 Division II. Stats forthcoming - we promise.
Record (5-6)
Wins : Johns Hopkins (house), Exhibition Team #2 (twice), Exhibition
Team #1, UMBC
Losses : Maryland (CP) A and B (twice each), Exhibition Team
#1, UMBC
Playoffs : None. (Finished either 3rd or 4th out of 7 teams.)
Champion : University of Maryland - College Park (B)
We went to the seven team tournament, rechristened the "Sorry, we
can't make it" tournament in honor of half the field bailing in the last
week. Several heartbreak losses disheartened us - we made up for it by
partying Saturday night.
