Bachelor of Arts with a major in Dramatic Literature

Is an interdisciplinary major, combining coursework in the Department
of English with courses in Theatre. If the 20th Century was the century
where the theatre director emerged as King, many theatre professionals
believe that the 21st Century will see the Dramaturge taking the throne.
The
Dramatic Literature Major encourages a deeper study of the text and
its relationship to performance. Playwriting, dramatic criticism, dramaturgy,
directing are all areas that are enriched by this curriculum.
Special
Honors: In addition to meeting the general requirements stated under
University Regulations, candidates for graduation with Special Honors
in Dramatic Literature must have a grade point average of 3.4 in the
major and complete TrDa 199, Honors Thesis with a grade of A. They must
consult with a faculty advisor at the beginning of the second semester
of the junior year to determine eligibility, area of study, and the
director of the research or creative project.
