Cara Chute (B.A. Theatre): “I just wanted to send you all a quick update on how things are progressing on the other side of the continent. I have been incredibly busy and am
still adjusting to the people and the place that is Los Angeles. The weather is absolutely beautiful. I am interning at April Webster Casting and working on the CBS show ‘Criminal Minds.’ It is really an amazing opportunity, and very educational to watch the casting process of an actual TV show. The people there are great, but Hollywood definitely keeps some crazy hours! I have to say though, wearing flip flops to work is awesome. Robert Shampain has also hired me as the Event Coordinator for the BU in L.A. program. I have a huge heads up on every body else and am making awesome connections organizing events for BU alums, some of which are very famous and prestigious. I am working with the BU office doing a lot of publicity, and organizing and gathering information on people in L.A. from BU, as well as helping to put together some of our fantastic events. I am also working at Wicked in Los Angeles; I interned for the producers on Broadway this summer and they hooked me up with a job out here. So everything is slowly working itself out. Classes are just getting started, but so far it's been tremendously helpful.”
Maggie Contreras (B.A. Theatre): “Yes, I am prospering. I am working with a wonderful manager and commercial agent and still looking for theatrical rep. To War With Love (now titled Love Lessons) will be produced in London at the Chelsea Arts Club and at the Finborough Theatre, if I can figure out how to raise money for the production.”
Brian Elerding: “Most recently I did a week of work for a new Disney sitcom called ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ which was the most fun I've had on a set, ever. Actor/director Fred Savage was our director, which was a pleasure as well. The show hasn't even aired yet. You might also find it interesting to know that Nizar Wattad (who was in The Memorandum, as you may recall) is a screenwriter here in L.A. and is actually doing quite well. I can't really tell you too much about what he's doing since it's on the downlow, but he's working with an Oscar-nominated director, helping the director with his next script – very exciting! From time to time I also get a chance to speak with Emily Wilson. Last time we spoke she was living outside of Paris with her husband (!), doing edgy performance art/theatre and working on starting a theatre company. She graduated from the full Lecoq program in Paris and has been doing well ever since. I had the pleasure of being in Paris for her final performance at the Lecoq School and she just seems to be getting better and better. I also hang out with Sabrina Hyman who is working in TV and film production, making her way up to some very interesting projects. Cody Lindquist is getting big in the underground comedy scene in New York, too! Promising kids, we are... Send my love to all the appropriate folks over there at TRDA.”
Jenna Harju (B.A. Theatre): “A few pieces of my art will be on display in downtown Los Angeles at the Infusion Gallery from November 3-28. The opening reception is on Thursday, November 8, 6-10pm at the gallery located at 719 South Spring St., L.A., CA 90014.” Websites: www.infusiongallery.com and www.jennaharju.com
Marriam Mossalli: Ms. Mossalli has been accepted to the BU Screenwriting Program in L.A.
Kaitlin Snyder: “I just wanted to give you all an update on my progress out here in California (yes, I actually moved). I've met with Maggie Contreras and she
was extremely helpful. I got my headshots done and I've already worked on a Network show. Things are off to a pretty slow to start, but that's normal, so I haven't given up yet. In fact, I'm more excited now than ever to be out here doing what I'm doing.”
