The George Washington
University & Montgomery County Public Schools Teacher Licensure The
Teachers 2000 Partnership prepares students for licensure in the
Completion
of GWU's teacher preparation programs requires satisfactory results on the PRAXIS I
and PRAXIS
II as required by the Guidelines for Licensure The Office of Laboratory Experiences (OLE) will verify that a student has completed one of our licensure programs and has completed coursework in their specialization. Students will need to provide the following to facilitate this process.
For specific details on how to obtain a state teaching license, refer to the OLE website. Please keep in mind that "verification for eligibility for licensure" in your content area is not a teaching license. A teaching license can only be given by a state Department of Education. GWU can only verify for the state that you are eligible to apply for a teaching license. Once you have received this "verification for eligibility" from GW, you must then contact the state Department of Education in order to obtain your teaching license. If you have specific questions about this, please contact Dr. Patricia Tate at ptate@gwu.edu or 202-994-6166, or ole@gwu.edu. Please contact 202-973-1593 for additional information.
