BIOGRAPHY
Over the last twenty-five years Chandra has taken the lead in defining,
developing and executing major initiatives in the mathematical and computer
sciences and related fields, emphasising the role of basic research. In
particular, he played a major role in defining and developing an area that
may be called mathematical engineering with emphasis on intelligent control,
signal processing, high performance computing, nonlinear dynamics, and
mathematical modeling. In so doing, he has forged several new partnerships
among different universities, and between them and a variety of Army and
industrial labratories. Some specific examples are:
