Senior Research Staff Scientist, Dept. of Statistics.

BIOGRAPHY

Over the last twenty-five years Chandra has taken the lead in defining, developing and executing major initiatives in the mathematical and computer sciences and related fields, emphasising the role of basic research. In particular, he played a major role in defining and developing an area that may be called mathematical engineering with emphasis on intelligent control, signal processing, high performance computing, nonlinear dynamics, and mathematical modeling. In so doing, he has forged several new partnerships among different universities, and between them and a variety of Army and industrial labratories. Some specific examples are:

  • The Mathematics Research Center (University of Wisconsin, Cornell University).
  • Center of Intelligent Control Systems (Brown, Harvard, M.I.T.).
  • Army High Performance Computing Research Center (University of Minnesota).
  • Center of Excellence on Information Sciences (Clark-Atlanta University).
  • DoD Infrastructure Consortimum on Advanced Distributed Simulation (Grambling University).

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Nonlinear Analysis, System and Control Theory, Stochastic Analysis, Intelligence Systems, Simulation and Modeling, Computational Methods, Transport and Diffusion.
