Research

Dr. Subiaul's research seeks to understand the development and evolution of social cognition in general and imitation learning (or novel imitation) in particular in typical and atypical populations. Specifically, Dr. Subiaul's research focuses on (a) identifying the imitation-specific deficits that affect children with autism; (b) identifying how different aspects of the imitation faculty develops in typically-developing children; and (c) comparing how humans and other primates (monkeys and apes) copy different types of rules.
