Clinics Supervised

Neurogenic Communication Disorders Clinic
Comprehensive evaluations and rehabilitation are provided for persons with a wide range of neurogenic speech and language disorders. Services are provided for:

  • Aphasia, apraxia of speech and dysarthria secondary to a variety of neuropathologies such as stroke/brain attack, trauma, and various neuromuscular disorders
  • Adults presenting with cognitive-linguistic disorders such as those related to right cerebral hemisphere damage or traumatic brain injury,
  • Clinical dysphagia treatment
  • Weekly group treatment sessions are also available

Research

  • Cognitive-Linguistic Diagnostic Battery for Rancho VI - VIII Traumatic Brain Injury Patients
    Click here for a summary of findings from the cognitive-linguistic diagnostic battery for Rancho 6-8 traumatic brain injury patients, developed through the Defense and Veterans Head Injury Program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.
  • Listening comprehension abilities following moderate to severe head injuries: A longitudinal study.
  • The relationship between pragmatics and executive functioning following TBI.

Current Grant Applications

Cognitive-linguistic treatment focusing on executive disorders through telemedicine. 

This grant would directly include students, so we are interested in finding graduate clinicians in our program that would like to become involved in providing and evaluating treatment sessions to TBI patients enrolled in our program.
