PROGRAM
This course examines selected political, social, economic, and foreign policy issues since the end of communism in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It also focuses on the new issues that have arisen in these areas now that these countries are part of NATO and the EU. Students meet several times in DC prior to departure. In Prague and Bratislava, we meet with academic experts, analysts in think tanks, political leaders, non-governmental organization activists, and government officials. Requirements include: active participation in class sessions and a research paper due in early September on a topic to be agreed upon by the student and instructor.
COSTS
The cost of the program is estimated at $3,563 for three credits tuition, study abroad insurance, lodging, transportation, group meals, and cultural events. International airfare and personal expenses are not included.
