Disability Support Services
Available to 6-week students only, Disability Support Services (DSS), in compliance with federal guidelines, provides and coordinates support services for students with a wide variety of disabilities. Accommodations are available to facilitate academic access for those students submitting documentation of need. Postsecondary services for students with disabilities are not necessarily a continuation of early special education services. Students are expected to take full personal responsibility for their educational experience. To facilitate the transition, DSS also offers a unique, fee-for-service ($250) component for eligible Summer Scholars. With the support of DSS staff, students will develop a tailored set of goals and learning outcomes; receive guidance in accessing traditional accommodations to support their academic performance; and participate in weekly one-on-one and small group sessions to develop learning and self-advocacy skills. Students are encouraged to contact DSS prior to or upon admission to the Summer Scholars Program.
