Summer and Fall 2010 registration opens March 29.
Students who are currently enrolled at GW are eligible to register for summer courses using the GWeb Information System. GW students are able to register according to assigned registration dates posted on the Registrar's website. Students are encouraged to consult with advisors prior to making course selections. In addition to on-campus course offerings, some online courses, summer abroad programs and summer institutes may satisfy major requirements. Any holds that are applied to a student's account must be cleared prior to registering.
New GW Students
New students who have been admitted for the fall semester are eligible to enroll in summer courses. Contact the Office of Summer Sessions at 202-994-6360 for assistance. New students who have been admitted to degree programs for the summer session should check with their school for information about orientation and registration.
Course Load
Students may take a maximum of two summer session courses concurrently. Permission to take more than two courses or 6 credit hours per session must be obtained from the student's academic dean.
Consortium
The Washington Metropolitan Area Consortium of Universities is a cooperative arrangement in postsecondary education that is designed to permit the sharing of academic resources by member institutions and to offer qualified students the opportunity to enroll at other institutions for courses not available on their own campus. The George Washington University offers its qualified undergraduate and graduate degree students the opportunity to enroll in courses at American University, Catholic University of America, Gallaudet University, George Mason University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Marymount University, Southeastern University, Trinity College, University of the District of Columbia, and the University of Maryland—College Park.
GW degree students interested in summer courses at a consortium school must enroll through GW to receive credit at GW. Exceptions must be made in advance by the student's dean's office. All consortium registration requests and program adjustments (Add/Drop) must be processed in person in the Office of the Registrar. Please consult the Consortium section of the Registrar's Office website at: http://www.gwu.edu/~regweb/web-content/registration/consortium_reg.html for policies, procedures, and to download the Consortium Registration Form. Consortium registrations will be processed only during the general registration period just before the start of classes. Instructions are available from your dean's or registrar's office.
