For Faculty

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in GW Summer Sessions. We value your innovation, creativity, and dedication to teaching. We are here to help you provide academically engaging opportunities for students who wish to continue their studies through any part of summer.

SUMMER AT GW
The Office of Summer Sessions has primary responsibility for on-campus and online credit-bearing courses during the summer for all schools, with the exception of the Law School and Medical Center. Our office articulates summer policies, markets summer offerings, and coordinates administrative planning and processes necessary to develop and support summer courses, special programs, and summer institutes. Approximately 5000 students enroll in summer sessions. The majority of summer students are continuing GW students. 12.5% are non-degree students. Summer offerings include:

  • on-campus courses
  • online courses
  • pre-college programs
  • short-term abroad courses
  • summer institutes

2010 CALL FOR SPECIAL PROGRAM PROPOSALS
Proposals are now being accepted for summer institutes, online courses, and short-term abroad courses for summer 2010. Interested faculty should seek approval through their chairs and deans to confirm that the proposed course fits departmental and college plans for summer offerings. School-approved proposals for short-term abroad courses and summer institutes, and school endorsements for faculty intending to propose an online course for development, are due to the respective administrative office on October 9, 2009. The proposal process, requirements and deadlines are included in the program web pages that follow.
