Honey W. Nashman
Associate Professor and Director of Human Services

Honey W. Nashman is the director of the Human Services Program. This Program prepares students to assume effective leadership roles in not-for-profit agencies supporting or serving people and communities who are experiencing need. Professor Nashman has been the Co-Principle Investigator on the AmeriCorps: Learn and Serve: Higher Education Grant. She was awarded a Faculty Program Cooperative Grant Award from the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. She has served as Commissioner, DC Commission on National and Community Service. She was a higher education Faculty participant at the First International, Learn and Serve, Summit on Citizenship and Civility. She is active on various boards involved in issues related to social justice, building community, working with individuals with special needs, and volunteer management. She is currently examining attitudes toward volunteering and the psychosocial aspects of human services work.

Current Projects

Partnership grant received by Office for Community Service from the Fannie Mae Foundation in support of the Neighbors Project Corps-Capital City Initiative to serve Shaw and Columbia Heights-$50,000. Human Services Program participation includes: curriculum development, volunteer management, selection and training of Corps members.
