Hiromi Ishizawa
Assistant Professor of Sociology
Hiromi Ishizawa received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006. She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Minnesota Population Center (University of Minnesota) from 2006 to 2008. Her research interests are in the areas of social and family demography, immigration, sociology of language, urban sociology, race/ethnicity, and children and youth.

Current Projects
Professor Ishizawa received a George Washington University Facilitating Fund grant for the project, "Civic Participation among Young Adults across Immigrant Generations."
Professor Ishizawa is selected as a 2009-2010 Policy Research Scholar at the George Washington Institute of Public Policy for the project, "Trajectories of Civic Engagement among Children of Immigrants."
With Dharma Arunachalam and Douglas Grbic, Professor Ishizawa is working on the project, "Ethnic Neighborhoods in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand."
With Suh-Ruu Ou, Professor Ishizawa is working on the project, "Academic Performance of Language Minority Children: Home Language, English Proficiency, and Early Childhood Education."
