SMPA Senior Plays Key Role in Madoff Best Seller
George Washington University student Mike Valerio spent eight months working as an investigative reporter and chief researcher on the New York Times Best Seller Betrayal: The Life & Lies of Bernie Madoff, released on August 11.
"When you see your work in stores across the country, and reviews start coming in from Time Magazine and Reuters that your book on Madoff is the best, it's an incredible feeling," said Valerio.
As a sign of their teamwork, the author, Andrew Kirtzman credited Valerio first in the acknowledgements section of the book.
"Mike was the first person I called for this job," said Kirtzman. "I told him to uncover where Bernie came from, what made him tick, and to interview people who were part of Madoff's bizarre world. Michael came through, always."
