Internships
Over the last several years internships, especially in the media, have become increasingly competitive. The Semester in Washington Journalism Program requires you to work four days a week, partly to ensure you have the greatest chance of getting the best internship, and partly to make it possible to do truly meaningful work while there. Deciding where to intern is the most important decision you will make during your time here. The process starts once you are admitted to the program. At that point you will get access to the program’s data base of several hundred internship listings. Spend some time looking over options and once you have narrowed your area of interest the Semester in Washington Journalism’s director will work with you individually to help you choose the best possible internship. Some students decide on, apply, and secure an internship before they arrive. Others students wait until they get to Washington D.C. The earlier you apply the more chance you will have of getting the one you want. But don’t worry if you don’t know where you should apply, that’s part of what the Semester in Washington is all about. We will work with you to get you where you should be. Among the internships available in DC are: CNN
