Roberts

Senator Hillary Clinton

Current Summer 2008 students including seven from New York met with former First Lady and New York Senator Hillary Clinton. The Senator talked about her time as an intern "40 years ago" and how she lived on GW's campus as well. Students were delighted to meet a major player in American politics.

Embassy of Kyrgyzstan

Students went to the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan for a briefing on the country, its politics, and its relationship with the United States. Students met with Ms. Zamira Sydykova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA and Canada. Ambassador Sydykova was a leading activist of the opposition movement in her country and an award winning journalist.

These are just two examples of the opportunities available at Semester In Washington. In addition to great internships and in-depth study of American politics, Networking Events like this open up the real world of Washington to you. These sessions bring you face to face with the people who make the decisions that affect our lives. Discuss coverage of presidential campaigns with producers from a major network. Be briefed by senior White House advisors. Hear from members of the Supreme Court. Meet with members of Congress. Discuss campaign strategies with campaign strategists. Consider the direction of the national parties with senior staff at the Republican and Democratic Committees.
