In 19th-century Japan, the arrival of a young samurai trainee whose androgynous beauty stirs feelings of longing and jealousy in his fellow warriors and superiors leads to dramatic consequences. With an unusual mix of costume drama and sexual intrigue from scripter/director Nagisa Oshima ("In the Realm of the Senses"), Taboo stars Ryuhei Matsuda, Shinji Takeda, and "Beat" Takeshi Kitano.
