Daewoo Vietnam Scholarship
Purpose
The purpose is to help promising Vietnamese graduate students to pursue advanced degrees. Recipients must intend to return to Vietnam immediately after receiving their degree to apply their new knowledge to advancing Vietnam.
Award
The Daewoo Corporation established an endowment at GW to offer scholarships of up to $10,000 (fees excluded) for the period of one academic year, renewable. Renewal applications may be submitted to renew the Scholarships for one to four additional years, depending upon the program of study.
Eligibility Requirements
All recipients must be full-time Masters or doctoral students (applicants or current students) and demonstrate high scholastic achievement by maintaining required academic averages for their programs of studies. Eligible fields of study include accountancy, finance, information systems, international business, supply chain management, marketing, and science technology and innovation. Incoming students must have passed the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 on the paper-based exam or 100 on the internet based exam, or an IELTS overall band score of 7.0 (with no individual band below 6.0). To ensure that recipients return to Vietnam and contribute to the further development of their nation's growth following the receipt of their degree, a J-1 visa is required.
