Sigur Center for Asian Studies

The Sigur Center of The Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University is the largest academic institute devoted to Asian Studies in Washington, DC. Its mission is to increase the quality and broaden the scope of scholarly and policy research on Asian affairs, promote U.S.-Asian scholarly interaction and educate a new generation of students, scholars, analysts, and policymakers. The Center draws strength and resources from the largest core faculty of Asianists of any institution in Washington, D.C. The center has been designated a "center of academic excellence" by George Washington University since 2003 because of the quality and productivity of its faculty and programs. The center boasts a national and international reputation.

A new Asia Report, "Obama from a Southeast Asian Perspective," has been published, based on the November 12, 2009 event with Amitav Acharya.
