January 15, 2000
Present: Cathy Zeljak (GWU), Patricia Thurston (Yale), Mischa Buczkowski
(Oregon), Sandra Levy (Chicago), Teresa Tickle (MSU), Beth Feinberg (UCLA)
Tickle distributed and read minutes from the June 26, 1999 meeting in New
Fiscal report: Levy reported that we need to keep subscriptions up because
it costs $1500 to publish an issue. We have enough money in the account to
publish one issue, but Levy would like more in the account as a reserve.
Changes in membership: the Committee is looking for new blood. Susan
Sommer can no longer write the Grants and Acquisitions section; Tatjana
Barr will write Transitions section for this year, but the Committee will
need to find someone else for the following year. Thurston has a colleague
at Yale who may be interested.
Reports on sections: the Committee needs the Reports by February 1st to be
included in the Newsletter; members of the Committee will follow up with
individuals. Kay Sinnema will report on the U.S. and Canada; Susan Sommer
will write Grants and Acquisitions; Tatjana Barr is working on
Transitions; Larry Miller is writing Libraries in Profile and will send
the SEEMP minutes. Tickle has fifteen submissions for the Bibliography
section; Thurston has some submissions for Research in Progress and will
follow up with the individuals concerned.
Formatting questions: Tickle can accept MS Word or Word Perfect.
Submission deadlines: Levy is giving contributors until February 1-7 to
get material to Tickle.
Cover ideas: Thurston suggested that the Committee could use graphics from
covers of library journals published in Eastern European countries.
Meeting adjourned at 10:40 A.M.
